Sunshine Coast Fauna Survey 2013

Some photos of theĀ Snake Out Brisbane,Ā Future Plus Environmental,Ā and Bemrose Wildlife Management Services crew on fauna survey forĀ Sunshine Coast Councils new bushland reserves. Our job, to complete pre-wet season baseline fauna surveys for new bushland reserves purchased under the Environmental Levy Fund. This knowledge, including the presence of two EVNT listed species (the Elf Skink, Eroticoscincus graciloides; the Water Mouse, Xeromys mioides) will help guide conservation and managementĀ decisions in the future. We used over 100 traps per site, two sites per location, in two separate locations, with 5 days of trapping at each location and some active daytime and nighttime surveys. Traps included standard pitfall and elliot traps, as well as harp traps for bats, motion sensor camera and bait stations and song meters recording bird and bat calls. Awesome fun and a great team of fantastic people! See the following link to our gallery for some more happy snaps!
